What time does the race start?

Quartet 5k: 11:00am.
Runners Shop 10k: 11:15am
Quartet 1k Kid’s Fun Run: 10:30am.

Where is the Start? Course map available..? Mix of running surfaces..?

The 10/5k starts are located on the road beside the Island School approx 300m west of the Registration pavilion. Follow the signs from the pavilion. The 5k run follows the last half of the 10k course.

Both races use the same Start & Finish. COURSE MAP AT REGISTRATION.

Water station & Port-a-Potties available in the starting area.

The course is flat with a mix of grass, pavement & boardwalk - most of it runs on pavement. To get to the race on time, you must take the Centre Island ferry no later than 10am

Is the race Chip-Timed?

Yes. Your timing chip will be embedded in your race bib. NOTE: Awards based on Gun Time - no duplication of awards.

MEDICAL / FIRST-AID AVAILABLE…?

YesWe have 2 paramedics onsite and a doctor at the finish. An Epipen is available here in the event of an allergic reaction to a bee sting. EMS ambulance on call at the Island Fire Station.

Where do I register my kids for the Fun Run?

Separate registration table/pavilion on the Island. Free entry. Waiver must be signed by the parent.

Do you have a day-care area for the youngsters?

- No

Where is the Start of the Quartet 1K Kid’s Fun Run?

The start of the kids race is south west of the registration pavillion.

A piper & race crew will lead the kids to the Start after the warm-up (pavilion/10:15) The entire run is on grass.

Where is the Finish?

The 10/5k finish approx 200m south of the pavilion, near the Saturn playground.

Where is race day Kit pick up?

Located at the shelter/pavilion west of the Centre Island fountain. Race day entry fee - $60.00

Is Race Day Registration Available?

Yes, but only if the race has not sold out. The race has sold out the past three years, so best not to hedge your bets on this one.

I picked up the wrong T-shirt size at the store kit pick-up…can I exchange it…?

Go to the pavilion kit pick-up area after the race. An exchange can be made if the size is available.

Where is the Bag Check?

Look for the sign at the shelter/pavilion. It gets very busy – so we urge you to check your gear soon after arriving on site.

Are there bike racks onsite?

None available. Both runners & race crew are responsible for securing their bikes.

Are there washrooms/showers available?

Washrooms located in the centre of the shelter. Port-a-potties at the start. Washrooms also close to the finish at the lakeside food/bike rental pavilion. Showers not available.

Is there a warm-up?

Yes

Separate warm-ups for both the Kids’ Run & 10/5k races led by a qualified instructor.

Where will the results be posted?

On the wall beside registration at the pavilion (when ready). Later posted online at www.chiptimeresults.com & www.longboatroadrunners.com

Is the course accurate?

Yes

The Longboat Island Run is accredited by the Ontario Roadrunners Association as a Class ‘A’ race. The course has been nationally certified by Athletics Canada/Run Canada.

Is the course closed to the public.

No

…the city won’t allow it. We have lead cyclists for both the 5 & 10k runs. Pay attention to the course marshals wearing brightly coloured marshal shirts.

Where are the water stations?

Start water station - next to the Island School
3k water station - on the grass south of the Island Airport. ( Near yellow hydrant – Site 110)
5k water station - same location as the Start water station (Island school)
7.5k water station - beside the Canoe club not far from the Ward’s ferry.
Finish water station - just beyond the Finish chute.

Is there Gatorade on the course?

No

…just plain cool water. Gatorade & water available at the Finish. (Juice at the BBQ)

Is there a Lost & Found?

Yes

Check with the Awards’ area.

Can I buy BBQ/Picnic tickets for family & friends?

Yes

Picnic free to all entrants. Extra tickets can be purchased at the Picnic. Food/refreshments include: Hamburgers/hot dogs both meat & veggie -bagels – bananas – apples – assorted cookies – juice.

Awards' Ceremony.? How do I qualify for the Draw Prizes?

Fill out the Ontario Roadrunners Association (ORA) Quality Check form available at Registration. Must be present to win. Awards’ Ceremony for the 5/10k starts at approx 1pm at the Pavilion. Lots of room to relax here while enjoying your post run lunch!

How often does the Centre Island ferry return to the mainland?

Every half hour until 7:30pm. Then every 45’.

I would like to take part, but am not up to running..can I walk..?

Yes…keep in mind though that there are no ‘Walk Categories’ in either race.

After the race/awards.... what else can we do on the Island..?

CENTREVILLE - Family Activity area. Bike rentals available at the Centre Pier. Frisbee Golf Course. Canoe rentals. Tennis courts. (Clothing Optional beach near Hanlan’s Point!)

Can I run with a jogging stroller?

Yes you can but for safety reasons we ask you to start at the back of the pack.
